Ki Gong

What is Ki Gong?

Ki Gong  (or Chi Kung) means "energy exercise / breath work" in English.  Ki Gong has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine.  It is part of Taoism, which seeks to find harmony within the natural order of the Universe.  Ki Gong has been practised in the East for thousands of years and its health benefits are very well documented.

Ki Gong practitioners believe that the body and mind are connected through an "energy field".  This energy field is generated and maintained by the natural respiration of the body, known as Ki, Chi or Prana.  The practise aims to build, purify and balance the body’s ki.

Ki gong is very gentle but powerful and a great way to balance the body, mind and soul.

How can Ki Gong help me?

Ki Gong can be designed to achieve a goal, for example increase focus, mental and physical strength, cultivate spirituality and improve a particular health condition.

Consistent practise has many benefits including:

Mental

  • Harmony of body and mind
  • Gradual elimination of anxiety, fear and obsessive thoughts

  • Increases positivity
  • Increases focus and concentration

Physical

  • Aligns and strengthens muscles and skeleton

  • Improves circulation
  • Increase in energy
  • Improves sleep problems

  • Helps with weight management
  • Balances blood pressure
  • Normalises menstruation

  • Normalises the digestive system

Through diligent practice of Ki Gong we cultivate our chi.  Our chi then can flow freely through the body, strengthening areas of weakness and reinforcing areas of strength.  Chi provides a defense against toxicity in our environment and the stresses of our hectic existence.
